A Space to Work, Think, and Play
Gaithersburg, MD

A prior man-cave and unused dining room were transformed into the favorite place in the home by making these spaces completely functional for the couple. A custom-built maple bookcase-desk-display cabinet that spans both rooms makes space for the vast library owned by this civil war-era enthusiast.
One of the requirements for the space was that the sofa be extremely comfortable for watching a game or even napping now and then. Touches of boldness were added in the tomato-red archway and mid-century inspired kilim rug.
